Overview

Survey Booker connects to MessageMind with the GET API key and the per-tenant API URL from your Survey Booker Settings page. The integration imports contacts and polls for contact changes. Survey Booker job-stage webhooks can also refresh linked contact information. Outbound contact updates require the configured write connection; optional lead creation is disabled by default because it creates a surveying job and quote, not a bare contact.

What MessageMind can do with it

  • Validate the API key and the per-tenant API URL together against your firm's own Survey Booker host before saving.
  • Bulk import Contact records from Survey Booker into MessageMind, by record id, by stage, or by a modified date range.
  • Poll Survey Booker on a schedule for created or updated contacts in the modified date range, so edits (not just new records) reach MessageMind.
  • Receive job-stage webhook deliveries through the integration-specific authenticated URL and refresh the associated contact data.
  • Update a linked contact's name, email, and phone in Survey Booker through the Patch API when writes are enabled.
  • Create a surveying lead, job and quote only when the separate create workflow is explicitly configured and its required service and address fields are supplied.

Requirements

  • A Survey Booker account with the GET API feature enabled on the firm.
  • The GET API key from Survey Booker, Settings, API.
  • The per-tenant API URL from the same screen. Survey Booker has no shared API host; the URL carries your firm's subdomain under surveybooker.co.uk.

How to connect

  1. In Survey Booker, open Settings, API, and copy both the GET API key and the API URL for your firm.
  2. In the MessageMind dashboard, open /integrations and click the Survey Booker card. The connect modal opens.
  3. Paste the API URL into the API URL field and the key into the API Key field, then save.
  4. MessageMind calls your firm's Survey Booker host with the key against the Contact search endpoint. A wrong URL, a wrong key, and a disabled GET API feature each produce their own error message rather than a generic failure.
  5. If a Survey Booker key is rotated, repaste the fresh key in the same card. The stored credential is replaced and sync resumes without a fresh initial import.

Authentication and permissions

Mechanism
Per-tenant API URL plus a GET API key issued by Survey Booker. The URL is validated to resolve to a host under surveybooker.co.uk before any request is made, so the connect form cannot be pointed at an arbitrary address.
Credentials
A Survey Booker API key sent on the X-SurveyBooker-API-Key header, and the firm's API URL. Both are stored per tenant.

Available data and actions

Reads

  • Contact records returned by the Survey Booker search API: CustomerID, name, email, phone, company, address, and the LastActivity/CreatedDate timestamps.
  • Pages of up to 100 records at a time, selected by record id, by stage, or by a modified date range of up to three months.

Writes

  • Updates to an existing Survey Booker contact (salutation, first name, last name, email, telephone) through PATCH update-contact when outbound writes are enabled.
  • Optional surveying lead creation when the create workflow is explicitly configured; this is not a bare-contact creation action.

AI agent use cases

  • Bulk-load your Survey Booker contact book into MessageMind once, with import jobs that resume after a crash and page safely to a hard cap.
  • Keep MessageMind in step with Survey Booker edits automatically through the modified date-range poll, without a human exporting and re-importing.
  • Use a Survey Booker job-stage event to refresh the associated contact in MessageMind; contact-only changes are covered by the modified-range poll.

Configuration

  • Imports require a search mode: record id, stage, or a modified date range. A date-range span of more than three months is refused up front because the vendor refuses it on the wire.
  • Each import pages until the end of the result set or a hard cap of 500 pages, at which point the job is failed rather than silently reported as finished.
  • The poll replays each window with a short overlap so an edit landing on the boundary is not missed. The cursor only advances after a successful pass.
  • Create (lead) writes are off by default because Survey Booker has no create-bare-contact endpoint; the only create raises a surveying job.
  • The webhook URL carries a per-integration token (24 random bytes) that both routes the delivery to your account and authenticates it.

Example workflows

First-time import from Survey Booker

  1. Pick a search mode on the import screen: record id, stage, or a modified date range of up to three months.
  2. MessageMind creates an import job, claims it, and pages through the Survey Booker search results.
  3. Each row is converted to a MessageMind contact, linked to the Survey Booker CustomerID, and skipped if the same contact is already present by id, email, or phone.
  4. The job's progress bar reflects the total Survey Booker declares; it never reads 100 percent until the pager actually reaches the end.

A Survey Booker job-stage event refreshes a contact

  1. Survey Booker posts a job-stage delivery to the integration-specific webhook URL.
  2. MessageMind authenticates the integration token and resolves the associated contact information.
  3. The contact is updated or imported in MessageMind. Contact-only edits are still handled by the scheduled poll.

Limitations

  • Survey Booker has no list-everything endpoint, so an import always needs a search mode (record id, stage, or a date range).
  • A modified date range cannot exceed three months, and the search API accepts no page-size parameter (100 records per page is the vendor cap).
  • Survey Booker has no contact-level webhook: their webhooks fire on job stages. Creating a bare contact emits nothing, so the modified-range poll is the only path for contact edits.
  • Outbound lead creation is disabled by default. When explicitly configured, it needs service and job-address data and creates a surveying job and quote; it must not be treated as ordinary contact creation.
  • A webhook delete removes the Survey Booker link from the matching MessageMind contact but never deletes the MessageMind contact itself.

Troubleshooting

The connect form says Survey Booker did not recognise the API URL as your firm.

Copy the URL verbatim from Survey Booker, Settings, API. The generic api.surveybooker.co.uk host answers Incorrect surveying firm for every key, so the per-tenant URL for your firm is what the connect form needs.

The connect form says the API is not enabled on your account.

Survey Booker recognised the firm but the GET API add-on is off. Ask Survey Booker support to enable API access, then reconnect in the same card.

Updates to a Survey Booker contact never leave MessageMind.

Outbound writes are off by default. Contact MessageMind support to confirm whether the update path is enabled for your account; outbound creates stay inert because Survey Booker has no bare-contact create endpoint.

A Survey Booker contact appears twice after a first import.

The Survey Booker CustomerID collided with an existing MessageMind contact whose email or phone matched. Link the matching MessageMind contact to the imported Survey Booker record by hand; the next sync targets the linked record.

Disconnect and reconnect

  • On /integrations in the dashboard, open the Survey Booker card and click Disconnect. The stored API key and URL are removed from your tenant and the schedule for the modified date-range poll stops. Previously imported contacts stay in MessageMind.
  • To reconnect, copy the current API key and URL from Survey Booker, Settings, API and paste them back into the connection form. If you reconnect against a different Survey Booker firm, MessageMind starts a fresh import against the new tenant.
