Overview

Package tracking is a built-in MessageMind capability. Give the AI a courier tracking number and it requests the shipment status and event history from the tracking service managed by MessageMind. You do not need to connect a merchant 17TRACK account or paste a tracking API key.

What MessageMind can do with it

  • Look up a shipment by its courier tracking number.
  • Return the shipment status, event history and estimated delivery information when provided by the tracking service.
  • Check again briefly when a newly registered tracking number initially has no usable events.
  • Present returned event dates in the conversation time zone.

Requirements

  • Package tracking available to the AI agent in your MessageMind setup.
  • A valid courier tracking number.

How to connect

  1. Use the built-in Package tracking capability in your AI setup; no merchant tracking-provider credential is required.
  2. Provide a courier tracking number in the conversation and ask for its status.
  3. If the capability is unavailable in your agent, ask MessageMind to check its configuration.

Authentication and permissions

Mechanism
MessageMind manages the tracking-service connection. There is no merchant-side API-key or webhook-secret setup for this capability.

Available data and actions

Reads

  • Shipment status and event history returned for the tracking number.
  • Estimated delivery details, locations and timestamps when included in the provider response.

Writes

  • The lookup can register a previously unknown tracking number with the managed tracking service so results can be retrieved.

AI agent use cases

  • Answer a shopper who supplies a tracking number and asks where their parcel is.
  • Explain the latest returned tracking event or delivery estimate without inventing missing carrier information.

Configuration

  • Tracking is managed within MessageMind; merchants do not configure provider keys, carrier poll schedules or webhook subscriptions for this capability.
  • A new number may need a short follow-up check before carrier events become available. There is no guaranteed two-second result time.
  • Package Tracking is a built-in capability. Its dashboard action activates or deactivates the capability; it does not collect merchant API credentials.

Example workflows

Check a package from a conversation

  1. The shopper provides the courier tracking number.
  2. MessageMind requests tracking information from its managed service.
  3. If the newly registered number is initially pending, MessageMind briefly checks again for usable results.
  4. The AI reports the available status and event history, or explains that no tracking information is available yet.

Limitations

  • This capability returns shipment information. Order contents, payments and refunds require the relevant connected store workflow.
  • Carrier coverage, event freshness and delivery estimates depend on the tracking provider and carrier.
  • This lookup does not file carrier claims, reroute parcels or create a merchant webhook subscription.
  • Missing or delayed carrier events must not be presented as confirmed shipment progress.

Troubleshooting

No tracking information is returned.

Check the courier tracking number. A new shipment may not have carrier events yet; try again later or check with the carrier.

The returned status has not changed.

Carrier scans can be delayed. Check the latest event timestamp and contact the carrier or merchant when further action is needed.

Disconnect and reconnect

  • There is no merchant tracking-provider credential to disconnect. To stop using package tracking, remove the capability from the agent setup where available or ask MessageMind for help.
