  • Your forecourt vehicles are imported into Products in AI Training as soon as you connect.
  • An hourly check adds new vehicles, updates prices, descriptions and photos, and removes cars that have left your forecourt.

  • For a single car, it answers from the specification, your advert description, the features and the optional extras.
  • When a car's advert is live on AutoTrader, the AI agent can send the customer a link to it.

The AutoTrader AI integration touches a scoped set of fields. Here is exactly what moves between the two systems:

How to set up the AutoTrader AI integration

Setup takes a few minutes once your AutoTrader account is live. The outline:

  • Find the credentials email your AutoTrader Integration Manager sent when your integration was approved. You need the Client ID and Client Secret from it.
  • In the AutoTrader portal, click your account name at the top right and copy the DID shown under your dealership name. This is your Advertiser ID.
  • In MessageMind, open Connections > Integrations.
  • Type autotrader in the search box, or click Industry-Specific in the left rail. The row is listed as Auto Trader.
  • Click Connect on the Auto Trader row. The Connect AutoTrader window opens.
  • Paste the Client ID into the Client ID field.

Limitations to know

The AutoTrader integration ships with a deliberately scoped surface. These are the limits worth knowing before you depend on it:

  • The connection is read-only. The AI agent cannot reserve a car, change a price or mark a vehicle as sold.
  • A change made in AutoTrader can take up to an hour to reach the AI agent.
  • Only vehicles in your forecourt stock are imported. Sold and deleted vehicles are left out, and so are cars whose adverts are not published on any AutoTrader advert channel.
  • The AI agent never sees a car's registration number, VIN, valuations, trade price or whether it is reserved, so it cannot share them.
  • Warranty, previous owners, MOT expiry and the strapline only reach the AI agent when your AutoTrader advert is set to show them.
