The Facebook Messenger AI integration connects Facebook Messenger to MessageMind so an AI agent can read live context and reply across every channel your customers use. Connect your Facebook Pages so the AI agent can answer the messages customers send them on Messenger. Facebook, Instagram and Meta lead forms share one connection, which you set up from the Facebook Instagram & Meta card on the Channels page.

What is the Facebook Messenger AI integration?

Connect your Facebook Pages so the AI agent can answer the messages customers send them on Messenger. Facebook, Instagram and Meta lead forms share one connection, which you set up from the Facebook Instagram & Meta card on the Channels page. Messenger chats then land in the Workspace next to your other channels, and your team can answer them there too.

You can see every supported integration on the MessageMind integrations page, and the full technical reference for this one lives in the Facebook Messenger documentation. If you prefer to see it in action first, book a demo and we will walk you through the live flow.

What the Facebook Messenger integration can do

The Facebook Messenger AI integration ships with the following capabilities out of the box:

  • The AI agent replies in Messenger as your Page, using what you taught it in AI Training.
  • Messenger chats show up in the Workspace with your other channels, including the photos, videos, voice messages and files customers send.
  • Replies someone sends from the Facebook Page inbox are added to the same conversation, so the history stays complete.
  • New Messenger customers are added to Contacts with their Facebook name and profile picture.
  • A campaign can answer new comments on your Page's posts and send the commenter a private Messenger message.
  • Labels you add in MessageMind can be copied to the same conversation in your Facebook Page inbox.
  • Each Page has its own switch, so you choose which Pages the AI agent works on.

Data read and written

The Facebook Messenger AI integration touches a scoped set of fields. Here is exactly what moves between the two systems:

DirectionWhat it covers
ReadThe name and profile picture of each Page you share.
ReadMessages customers send to your Pages on Messenger, including photos, videos, voice messages and files.
ReadReplies your team sends from the Facebook Page inbox.
ReadEach customer's Messenger name and profile picture.
ReadNew comments on your Pages' posts, for campaigns that use the Comment(S) On A Post trigger.
WriteMessenger replies sent as your Page, written by the AI agent or by your team in the Workspace.
WriteReplies under comments on your Pages' posts, sent by a campaign.
WritePrivate Messenger messages to people who commented, sent by a campaign.
WriteLabels on conversations in your Facebook Page inbox, added or removed when you change them in MessageMind (only with Sync Labels to Facebook Messenger Inbox on). If the Page has no label with that name yet, one is created.

How to set up the Facebook Messenger AI integration

Setup takes a few minutes once your Facebook Messenger account is live. The outline:

  • In the top menu, open Connections > Channels.
  • Click the Facebook Instagram & Meta card. You can find it under the Social filter.
  • Click Continue with Facebook.
  • Sign in to Facebook with the account that manages your Page.
  • When Facebook asks, choose the Pages you want to connect and any Instagram accounts linked to them.
  • Approve the permissions Facebook lists.

The step-by-step walkthrough, including every button and field, is in the Facebook Messenger documentation.

Use cases for the Facebook Messenger AI integration

Teams typically turn the Facebook Messenger AI integration on to:

  • A customer messages your Page at night asking about opening hours or delivery areas. The AI agent answers in Messenger from its training.
  • Someone asks for the price under one of your posts. A campaign replies under the comment and sends them the details in a private Messenger message.
  • A customer sends a photo of a damaged order. Someone on your team opens the chat in the Workspace, clicks Take Control and handles it.
  • Part of your staff still answers from the Facebook Page inbox. With Assign Chats to Manual on Official Channel Reply on, the AI agent stays out of any chat they reply in, so the customer does not get two answers.
  • You run one Page per shop and want the AI agent on only some of them. Turn the others off on the Facebook tab.

Limitations to know

The Facebook Messenger integration ships with a deliberately scoped surface. These are the limits worth knowing before you depend on it:

  • Facebook, Instagram and Meta lead forms are one connection. You cannot disconnect one of them and keep the others.
  • Only one Facebook login can be connected per MessageMind account, so every Page you want to use must be managed by that login.
  • The AI agent answers Messenger chats, not comments. Comments get a reply only from a campaign with the Comment(S) On A Post trigger.
  • Edited comments, and comments posted by your own Page, do not start a campaign.
  • You can reply in a Messenger conversation for 7 days after the customer's last message. After that, nobody can reply until the customer writes again.

Pricing and plan availability

The Facebook Messenger AI integration is available on MessageMind's paid plans. The MessageMind pricing page lists which plan is required and what each tier includes. There is no extra per-integration fee; the connection is part of your account.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Facebook Messenger AI integration?

The Facebook Messenger AI integration is the native connection between Facebook Messenger and MessageMind. Once connected, the AI agent can read live Facebook Messenger context during a conversation and act on it (for example answering a stock question, booking an appointment or updating a contact) across WhatsApp, Instagram, SMS, email and web chat.

How do I connect Facebook Messenger to MessageMind?

Open the Facebook Messenger integration page inside your MessageMind dashboard and follow the connect flow. The full step-by-step with every field label and screenshot is in the Facebook Messenger documentation.

How does authentication work for the Facebook Messenger integration?

You sign in with Facebook from MessageMind and approve access on Facebook's own screens. There is nothing to copy or paste. MessageMind stores these credentials encrypted at rest and uses them only server-side, so they never reach the browser or any third party.

What does the AI agent do once Facebook Messenger is connected?

It works with live Facebook Messenger data during the conversation. The first capability in the Facebook Messenger documentation reads: "The AI agent replies in Messenger as your Page, using what you taught it in AI Training." The full list, with every field the integration reads and writes, is in the documentation.

After Facebook sends you back, you see "No pages were found. Please connect a page to continue." What should I do?

The Facebook login you used does not manage a Page, or no Page was selected on Facebook's screen. Sign in with an account that has full control of the Page, select it, and try again.
