The BigCommerce AI integration connects BigCommerce to MessageMind so an AI agent can read live context and reply across every channel your customers use. Connect BigCommerce so the AI agent can answer customer questions about the products in your BigCommerce store. You connect it in Connections > Integrations with an access token from a BigCommerce API account, then import your products in AI Training.

What is the BigCommerce AI integration?

Connect BigCommerce so the AI agent can answer customer questions about the products in your BigCommerce store. You connect it in Connections > Integrations with an access token from a BigCommerce API account, then import your products in AI Training. In MessageMind the row on the Integrations page is called Big E Commerce, and the connect window and the import list call it Big eCommerce. Turn on Sync Products if you want later changes in BigCommerce to reach MessageMind.

You can see every supported integration on the MessageMind integrations page, and the full technical reference for this one lives in the BigCommerce documentation. If you prefer to see it in action first, book a demo and we will walk you through the live flow.

What the BigCommerce integration can do

The BigCommerce AI integration ships with the following capabilities out of the box:

  • Import every product that is visible on your BigCommerce storefront into AI Training, in the Products section (on some accounts it's called Offerings).
  • Each product brings its name, description and price. Products with options, such as size or color, also bring their options and the price of each combination.
  • The AI agent answers from these products when customers ask what you sell, what something costs or which options it comes in.
  • With Sync Products on, products you add, edit or delete in BigCommerce are added, updated or removed in your Products section about five minutes later.

Data read and written

The BigCommerce AI integration touches a scoped set of fields. Here is exactly what moves between the two systems:

DirectionWhat it covers
ReadProducts that are visible on your storefront: name, description as plain text, price, SKU, category number and page link.
ReadEach product's options, such as size or color, and the price of every option combination.
ReadNew products, product changes and deleted products, while Sync Products is on.

How to set up the BigCommerce AI integration

Setup takes a few minutes once your BigCommerce account is live. The outline:

  • In your BigCommerce control panel, go to Settings and open Store-level API accounts, under API.
  • Click Create API account and pick V2/V3 API token as the token type.
  • Name it something you will recognize, such as MessageMind.
  • Under OAuth scopes, set Products to read-only. Leave the other scopes at None.
  • Click Save. BigCommerce shows your client ID, client secret and access token once, and downloads a text file with them and the API path. Keep that file.
  • Find your store hash in the API path. It's the short code between stores/ and the next slash.

The step-by-step walkthrough, including every button and field, is in the BigCommerce documentation.

Use cases for the BigCommerce AI integration

Teams typically turn the BigCommerce AI integration on to:

  • A shopper on WhatsApp asks how much your oak coffee table costs, and the AI agent replies with the price from your imported BigCommerce products.
  • A customer asks what a bag is made of. The AI agent answers from the product description you wrote in BigCommerce.
  • You add a product in BigCommerce in the morning. With Sync Products on, the AI agent can talk about it about five minutes later, without another import.

For broader AI-agent patterns across every integration, see ai for ecommerce customer service.

Limitations to know

The BigCommerce integration ships with a deliberately scoped surface. These are the limits worth knowing before you depend on it:

  • The AI agent can't look up orders or order status. MessageMind reads only your products and doesn't change anything in your BigCommerce store.
  • The AI agent doesn't check live stock levels in BigCommerce.
  • Sync Products only updates a Products section. If your AI Training shows Offerings instead, changes made in BigCommerce don't come through, so run the import again after you change your catalog.
  • Only products that are visible on your storefront are imported and synced. Hiding a product later doesn't remove it from MessageMind. Delete it in AI Training, or delete it in BigCommerce while Sync Products is on.
  • Running the import again adds new products and updates existing ones, but it doesn't remove products you deleted in BigCommerce.

Pricing and plan availability

The BigCommerce AI integration is available on MessageMind's paid plans. The MessageMind pricing page lists which plan is required and what each tier includes. There is no extra per-integration fee; the connection is part of your account.

Frequently asked questions

What is the BigCommerce AI integration?

The BigCommerce AI integration is the native connection between BigCommerce and MessageMind. Once connected, the AI agent can read live BigCommerce context during a conversation and act on it (for example answering a stock question, booking an appointment or updating a contact) across WhatsApp, Instagram, SMS, email and web chat.

How do I connect BigCommerce to MessageMind?

Open the BigCommerce integration page inside your MessageMind dashboard and follow the connect flow. The full step-by-step with every field label and screenshot is in the BigCommerce documentation.

How does authentication work for the BigCommerce integration?

You create a store-level API account in BigCommerce and paste its details into the Connect to Big eCommerce window. There is no BigCommerce sign-in page in this flow.

What does the AI agent do once BigCommerce is connected?

It works with live BigCommerce data during the conversation. The first capability in the BigCommerce documentation reads: "Import every product that is visible on your BigCommerce storefront into AI Training, in the Products section (on some accounts it's called Offerings)." The full list, with every field the integration reads and writes, is in the documentation.

Searching for BigCommerce on the Integrations page finds nothing. What should I do?

The row is called Big E Commerce. Type big in the search box, or click Ecommerce in the left rail.
